Description
Sixteenth notes fill most of the right hand in this A-minor dance, climbing in fine steps as high as C6, and it is the piece that opens the third part. The collection, Traditioner af Swenska Folk-Dansar, came out in three parts in early nineteenth-century Sweden and records dances of unknown authorship from around the country in a form for keyboard. It lasts about fifty-two seconds.
Its key is A minor; its metre, 3/4. The left hand keeps an accompanying pulse mainly in eighth notes, sometimes adding three-note chords. The right hand has more than one and a half times as many notes as the left, a busy melody steadily supported from below.
It is rated intermediate, with 481 notes in 52 seconds. The central task is keeping the right-hand sixteenths even, taking care that the fingers do not falter in the higher passages. Keep the left-hand eighths steady as the foundation of the tempo.
