Description

In bright B-flat major, the right hand runs on in unbroken sixteenths while the left hand at times settles onto long dotted quarters beneath it. This is No. 31 of the second part of Traditioner af Swenska Folk-Dansar, published in Sweden in the early nineteenth century, which gathers dance tunes whose makers went unrecorded into three keyboard volumes. It lasts just under a minute.

In 3/4, the right hand moves busily in sixteenths and eighths and reaches C6. The left-hand accompaniment moves mainly in eighth notes, mixed with longer dotted quarters and chords of up to three notes. The range runs from F2 to C6, and the two hands have nearly equal numbers of notes. Within the brightness of the major key, the right hand's fine motion runs on without a break.

It is rated intermediate, and with 608 notes in 59 seconds it is dense. The tasks are to keep the right-hand sixteenths even while holding the melody together, and to sustain the left-hand dotted quarters for their full value. Checking in the score view where the left-hand rhythm changes makes it easier to put the hands together. Settle the right-hand fingering at a slower playback speed, then raise the tempo section by section with the A-B loop.
