Description

A G-major dance that packs a thick sound into about forty-four seconds, its left hand sounding two- and three-note chords one after another. It is No. 27 of the second part of a folk dance collection printed in Sweden in the early nineteenth century. That collection, the three-part Traditioner af Swenska Folk-Dansar, puts traditional dance tunes into playable keyboard form without recording who made them.

Written in G major, it moves in 3/4. The right hand moves in eighths and sixteenths, rising to B5 with two-note double stops along the way. The left hand moves mainly in eighth notes and sounds many two- and three-note chords, thickening the accompaniment. The two hands have nearly equal numbers of notes, and both are written with few rests. The busy right hand over the left-hand chords makes for a full sound.

It is rated intermediate, and with 430 notes in 44 seconds it holds many notes for its length. Because the left hand has so many chords, keep the wrist loose so the eighth-note pulse does not turn heavy. Play the right-hand sixteenths clearly so they are not swallowed by the chordal accompaniment. Check both hands in the hand colours at a slower playback speed, then finish the piece section by section with the A-B loop.
