Description
Right-hand chords of up to four notes give this bright A major dance a festive ring, over a left hand that marks the beat almost entirely in quarter notes. No. 30 lasts about thirty seconds. It is part of the first book of Traditioner af Swenska Folk-Dansar, a three-part collection published in Sweden in the early nineteenth century that keeps, in keyboard settings, dance tunes handed down without their makers' names.
In A major and 3/4. The right hand moves in eighths and quarters, here and there sounding chords of up to four notes to widen the sound. The left hand is almost entirely in quarter notes, most of them two-note chords marking the beat. The range runs from a low D2 up to A5 in the right hand. Where the major-key chords join in, the sound becomes noticeably more festive.
It is rated beginner, with 180 notes. If the left-hand quarter notes are steady, the frame of the piece holds, so begin by securing the left hand. Put the fingers of each right-hand chord down together and let the top note of the melody be heard. Checking the shape of the right-hand chords in the score view at a slower playback speed helps the hand get ready in time. Its range stays within what a 61-key keyboard offers.
