Description
Eighth notes run side by side in both hands through most of this G major dance, with two-note double stops slipped into the right-hand line. No. 22 lasts about a minute. It belongs to the first part of Traditioner af Swenska Folk-Dansar, a folk dance collection published in three parts in early nineteenth-century Sweden, which wrote regional dance tunes down for the keyboard without recording who made them.
The key is G major and the metre 3/4. The MIDI here is set at a quarter note of 95. Eighth notes make up most of the right hand, which flows along with two-note double stops mixed in. The left hand also moves mainly in eighths, so the two hands often run side by side in the same note values. The range runs from D2 to E5.
It is rated intermediate, with 428 notes in 61 seconds. With eighth notes running in both hands, it matters not to lose track of where each bar begins. A slight lean on the first beat of the triple metre gives the dance its shape. In the right-hand double stops, bringing out the upper note a little makes the melody easier to hear. Even out the eighths at a slower playback speed and check each phrase with the A-B loop.
