Description
With so few notes, you can hear exactly which beat each one falls on, which makes this D-minor beginner piece a clear sketch of a triple-time dance's rhythm. It is No. 16 of the third part of Traditioner af Swenska Folk-Dansar, 30 seconds and 160 notes long and sharing key and metre with No. 15 just before it, in a collection that turns Swedish dance tunes into piano pieces without naming who made them.
It is in D minor and triple meter. The range runs from A2 to B-flat 5, just a semitone higher at the top than No. 15.
It is a good piece for learning rhythmic basics. Lower the playback speed and listen for the weight of the first beat against the lightness of the second and third before you play. Check which beats the left hand takes with the hand colours, and repeat the whole piece with the A-B loop to steady the pulse. Played after No. 15, it lets you finish a pair of short dances in the same key. A 61-key keyboard is enough for it. Remember the single flat in the key signature, B-flat.
A broad collection of standalone piano pieces not belonging to any specific set, offering hundreds of varied character pieces to explore and compare.
