Description
A springing dotted rhythm in the right hand rides over left-hand two-note chords repeated in eighth notes in this A minor dance of about forty-four seconds. It is No. 10 of the first part of Traditioner af Swenska Folk-Dansar, published in Sweden early in the nineteenth century in three parts. The book records dance music handed on locally, and the tunes' makers are unknown.
In A minor and 3/4. The right hand includes a springing dotted eighth and sixteenth figure, and mixes eighths, dotted figures and sixteenths in roughly equal measure. The left hand mostly repeats two-note chords in eighth notes, keeping the harmony sounding without a break under the tune. The range runs from C3 to G5, with little low bass, so the whole piece sits in the middle register.
It is rated intermediate, with 388 notes. The left-hand chords in eighth notes easily turn heavy and hard if the arm tenses. Keep the wrist loose and play them a step quieter than the right-hand melody. The hand colours show the left-hand pulse running continuously. Working the left hand alone at a slower playback speed first makes putting the hands together much easier.
