What is Visual Piano?

Visual Piano is a free web service for people teaching themselves the piano. Practice paths that map the way to the piece you want to play, a player that shows each piece as falling notes or sheet music, and a practice journal for your daily practice - all in the browser, with no sign-up or installation.

How the guides and practice paths are prepared

The guides explain Visual Piano and practice methods you can try with its included pieces. Practice paths suggest a sequence based on the skills involved; they are not an official teaching or examination syllabus.

• We distinguish the source score and MIDI from this site’s introductions and practice suggestions. Each piece links to its source page.
• Difficulty scores, durations and pitch ranges are guides based on the included data. Another arrangement, tempo or hand size can change how approachable a piece is.
• Falling-note colours identify tracks; they do not guarantee fingering or hand assignments. MIDI playback is a note reference rather than a finished performance modelling expression or technique.
• Worked examples provide a sequence and checkpoints. Session lengths and repetition counts are suggestions rather than promises of progress.

Data Handling

MIDI files uploaded by users are processed entirely within the browser. They are never sent to our servers, and the operator does not have access to the file contents. For details, please see our Privacy Policy.

About Preset Songs

The included scores and MIDI files come from the Mutopia Project. A composition’s copyright status is separate from the licence of its edition, typesetting or data. Refer to each piece’s source page for arrangers, contributors and licence notices. Piece introductions, practice suggestions and the selection and sequence of paths are content of this site.
