Description
The tenth prelude of Book I is defined by flowing sixteenth-note passages in E minor. Its first half unfolds with an improvisatory, arpeggiated character before shifting into a lighter, dance-like second section. Marked advanced given its high note count, it tests subtle touch control for distinguishing the two contrasting moods.
Bach's collection of preludes and fugues for keyboard, covering all 24 keys and regarded as the summit of contrapuntal writing.
