Description
This is one of the rare two-voice fugues in Book I, set in the subdued key of E minor. Despite having only two voices, it packs a dense 811 notes into just 61 seconds, demanding the advanced technique needed to keep fast passagework clear with so little textural support.
Bach's collection of preludes and fugues for keyboard, covering all 24 keys and regarded as the summit of contrapuntal writing.
