Titled "36 Originaltänze," this is a large collection of short dance pieces, likely assembled from sketches written around 1816 and published in 1821. Made up of numerous brief triple-time miniatures related to the waltz and Ländler, the full set runs to well over twenty minutes. Though each individual dance is short, performing the collection calls for versatility in capturing each piece's distinct character.

Franz Schubert (1797-1828)
Franz Schubert was a Vienna-born composer who died at only 31 but left behind a vast body of work, especially in the field of Lieder. Known for his gift for melody and subtle modulation, songs such as "Erlkonig" remain widely performed today. His piano works, including the Impromptus, are equally rich in lyricism.
