Description
The final piece of the Four Impromptus D.899 (Op. 90), completed in 1827. A flowing arpeggio accompaniment supports a broad, singing melody, while the middle section turns to a minor key with greater intensity. Running nearly seven and a half minutes with roughly 5,843 notes, the piece demands both technical stamina and lyrical phrasing, placing it firmly at an advanced level, where the real challenge is keeping the melody from getting buried beneath the constant arpeggios.
