Description
This is No. 2 in E-flat major from the same Op. 90 set. Light, flowing triplet figuration runs throughout this brilliant impromptu, with the middle section suddenly turning to minor to reveal deep lyricism. Packed into just over five minutes are roughly 3,145 notes in nearly unbroken technical passages, demanding evenness of finger movement and stamina at an advanced level, along with a good ear for keeping the triplets even while letting the melody emerge above them.

Franz Schubert (1797-1828)
