Description
The second movement of the Tempest Sonata develops a stately theme with dotted rhythms, enveloped in broken-chord figures spanning a wide range of the keyboard. Its measured tempo carries a sense of dignity and deep contemplation, offering a long, reflective stretch of stability in contrast to the unrest of the first movement. Though relatively sparse in notes, its nearly eight-minute span calls for deep, patient breathing between phrases.
