Description
This suite of twenty brief pieces, each accompanied by Satie's own witty text and period illustrations, playfully depicts everyday leisure activities and sports such as swimming, golf, and picnicking. Each miniature shifts character rapidly, packing distinct atmosphere into just a few bars. Performed as a whole, the set is substantial in length and note count, demanding quick shifts of character and tempo throughout.

About the Composer
Erik Satie (1866-1925)
Erik Satie was a French composer from Honfleur who worked in Montmartre's cabarets while pursuing a highly individual musical aesthetic. Known for spare, understated music and whimsically titled works, he later influenced minimalist and ambient music. This site includes 65 of his works, such as pieces from "Descriptions automatiques" and "Danse maigre."
