Description
Satie's Three Gymnopedies unfold over a gentle, waltz-like rhythm, with sparse, pared-down melodies that drift rather than build toward climaxes. Often cited as a precursor to musical Impressionism, their pale, understated harmonies create a distinctive sense of suspension. Played together the three pieces run about fifteen minutes, yet contain relatively few notes; the challenge lies less in technique than in sustaining stillness and resonance.
A broad collection of standalone piano pieces not belonging to any specific set, offering hundreds of varied character pieces to explore and compare.
