Description
Partita No.1 in B-flat major is often considered the most widely loved of the six partitas. It opens with a gently flowing praeludium, after which the following dance movements alternate elegance with technical brilliance. Performing the full suite requires considerable stamina, though its approachable melodic writing also makes it rewarding for listeners.
Suite-form works from the Baroque era; Bach's Partitas, a sequence of varied dances, are ranked among the greatest keyboard works.
