Description
The second movement of Partita No.2 in C minor. Like the Allemande of Partita No.1, it is richly ornamented, but the minor key lends it a more introspective, shadowed character. Bringing out a clear melodic outline amid the dense note-writing is the central performance challenge.
Suite-form works from the Baroque era; Bach's Partitas, a sequence of varied dances, are ranked among the greatest keyboard works.
