Description
K.402 in E minor is exceptionally long, running past ten minutes, which sets it apart from most sonatas in this collection. Despite its many notes, the music unfolds with long, breathing phrases, requiring a sense of the larger architecture even within a single movement. It tests both stamina and concentration, making it one of the more demanding advanced-level works here.

About the Composer
Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757)
Domenico Scarlatti was born in Naples and spent the latter part of his life at the Spanish and Portuguese courts. Born in the same year as Bach and Handel, he is renowned for his 555 single-movement keyboard sonatas, notable for their bold leaps and incorporation of Spanish dance idioms.
