Description
K.202 in B-flat major packs a great many notes into a relatively short span, giving it a nimble, quicksilver character. Rapid scales and arpeggios follow one another in quick succession, calling for the light touch associated with the harpsichord even when played on piano. Its single-movement form alternates tension and release in a way typical of Scarlatti's sonatas.

About the Composer
Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757)
Domenico Scarlatti was born in Naples and spent the latter part of his life at the Spanish and Portuguese courts. Born in the same year as Bach and Handel, he is renowned for his 555 single-movement keyboard sonatas, notable for their bold leaps and incorporation of Spanish dance idioms.
