Description
This is one of the 555 single-movement keyboard sonatas Domenico Scarlatti composed over his lifetime. Reflecting his years of service at the Portuguese and Spanish courts, it shows touches of Iberian folk-dance rhythm, hand-crossing, and wide leaps unusual for keyboard writing of the time. At about four minutes with just over 1,200 notes, it is a well-proportioned piece approachable for intermediate players familiar with Baroque music.

About the Composer
Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757)
Domenico Scarlatti was born in Naples and spent the latter part of his life at the Spanish and Portuguese courts. Born in the same year as Bach and Handel, he is renowned for his 555 single-movement keyboard sonatas, notable for their bold leaps and incorporation of Spanish dance idioms.
