Description
This G minor sonata, from a group of works dating around 1754, has a relatively subdued character. Rather than showing off virtuosity, it favors passages that carefully trace the melody's rise and fall, giving it a more lyrical quality than many of Scarlatti's sonatas. At just under three minutes, it still calls for careful shaping of phrases, placing it at an advanced level.

About the Composer
Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757)
Domenico Scarlatti was born in Naples and spent the latter part of his life at the Spanish and Portuguese courts. Born in the same year as Bach and Handel, he is renowned for his 555 single-movement keyboard sonatas, notable for their bold leaps and incorporation of Spanish dance idioms.
