Description
The fourth piece of the Album for the Young, "Chorale." It features solemn, hymn-like harmony in a texture where several voices move simultaneously. Running about a minute and a half with around 230 notes, though the tempo is gentle, it requires the player to listen for and balance each independent voice. The challenge is keeping the layered chords clear rather than muddy, making it valuable for developing harmonic awareness.
A collection of 43 piano pieces Schumann gave to his daughter Marie for her seventh birthday — musically rich works enjoyable for children and adults alike.
