Description
This is the first of a set of piano sonatas that Mozart composed together in Salzburg at around age eighteen. Its bright C major sound and well-balanced classical form are marked by youthful freshness throughout. Though the writing is still relatively simple, it already hints at the fuller sonatas Mozart would write in later years. At around fourteen minutes and nearly seven thousand notes, it asks an advanced player for precise touch and steady tempo control.
Piano sonatas representative of the Classical and Romantic eras, including Beethoven's early works — substantial multi-movement pieces throughout.
