Description
The first movement of Piano Sonata No. 7, composed in 1777 while Mozart was traveling through Mannheim. It opens with the rapid ascending figure known as the 'Mannheim Rocket,' a hallmark of the local orchestral style of the time. Though intermediate in difficulty, its clear sonata-form structure makes it a good study piece, radiating youthful energy and wit throughout.
Piano sonatas representative of the Classical and Romantic eras, including Beethoven's early works — substantial multi-movement pieces throughout.
