This Allemande opens Bach's French Suite No. 5. In a relaxed quadruple meter, its flowing melody spins out long-breathed phrases, gently setting the tone for the suite as a whole. Intermediate in level with a somewhat extended duration, it rewards shaping the melody's broad contours while allowing natural give-and-take with the accompanying voice, capturing the elegance of Baroque dance style.
