This number opens the Act II finale of La Traviata. The scene moves to Flora's house in Paris, where a night of masked festivities is beginning. Flora, the Marquis and the doctor greet the guests and pass on the rumour that Violetta and Alfredo have parted. The entertainment choruses of Nos. 11 and 12 follow, and the finale is built up on a large scale from there.

The file gives C major in 4/4. In keeping with the party, brisk orchestral motion carries the conversation, and the momentum of the scene comes before any self-contained song. Its 1,258 notes fit into under three minutes, which makes it one of the denser numbers in the set. The range from G1 to G6 does not fit a 61-key keyboard.

It is rated advanced, and the task is to keep fast figures light: with this many notes, a heavy touch drains the festive air out of the scene. Check the shape of the figures at a reduced playback speed and loop the busy spots with A-B repeat. Switching to the score view makes it easier to see how the exchanges of dialogue sit against the accompaniment.
