Description
This variation set is based on the aria 'Quant'è più bello' from Paisiello's opera La Molinara — the same opera that also provided the theme for Beethoven's variations on 'Nel cor più non mi sento'. This shows how fond Beethoven was of drawing on melodies from this particular, widely popular opera.
Works written in theme-and-variations form, where a single melody is transformed in many different ways.
