Description
These are the Twelve Variations, Op. 66, on 'Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen,' Papageno's aria from Mozart's 'The Magic Flute.' The light, catchy theme is transformed through changing textures and keys across the twelve variations. One of several sets Beethoven wrote on Mozart's themes, it combines playful ornamentation with contrapuntal touches, and at over eight minutes calls for advanced technique.
