Description
This variation set takes as its theme the song 'Ich hab ein kleines Hüttchen nur' and carries an appendix (Anhang) catalogue number, its authorship by Beethoven being a matter of scholarly debate. It follows the typical structure of an early variation set, gradually elaborating a simple, song-like theme with increasing ornamentation.
Works written in theme-and-variations form, where a single melody is transformed in many different ways.
