Description

Most of the notes belong to the left hand, which keeps up a broken-chord accompaniment in thirty-second notes, repeating F, C, A, C. The key is F major and the metre 2/4. The right hand opens with a broken chord climbing through F major, and later has descending figures mixing thirty-second and sixteenth notes. The right hand has fewer than half as many notes as the left.

At about nine seconds it is one of the shortest pieces in Op. 821, yet it holds 167 notes, so the writing is very dense. It closes the run of F major pieces on this site.

It is rated beginner, but a fast broken-chord figure in the left hand jams and tires the arm if the wrist is held stiff. Let the wrist turn in small circles and take each figure with the whole hand rather than the fingertips alone. Because the piece lasts only nine seconds, it suits slowing the playback and repeating the left hand many times. Splitting it into single bars with an A-B loop also helps. The range runs from E3 to G6, which fits a 61-key keyboard.
