Description
The second of the Three-Part Sinfonias, this piece is set in the tragic key of C minor. Its deep emotional expression and the rich harmony woven by three voices contrast sharply with the C major character of the first sinfonia. At about a minute and a half, it calls on intermediate players to convey the contrapuntal exchange between voices with genuine expressiveness.
