Description
The opening piece of the thirteen-movement Kinderszenen. Its melody, evoking longing for distant lands, carries a gentle nostalgia, as if the adult Schumann were looking back on childhood. Though under a minute long, its warm, flowing melodic line has made it a favorite in recital programs.
A suite of 13 pieces Schumann composed in 1838, including "Träumerei," evoking an adult's poetic recollection of childhood.
