Description
This 18-piece collection is named after the fictitious "League of David," an artistic brotherhood invented by Schumann, and was written during his engagement to Clara Wieck. The pieces alternate between the dreamy Eusebius and the fiery Florestan, the two contrasting personas Schumann assigned to himself. The music has the intimate feel of a personal diary, calling for sensitive shading of its shifting moods.
