Description
Written in 1837, this single-movement Allegro is said to have originated as the first movement of a planned sonata. It packs dramatic thematic contrasts and virtuosic passagework into a tightly concentrated structure. Lasting around eight and a half minutes, it vividly reflects the passionate style of Schumann's early period.
