Description

A movement from BWV 1006a functioning as the trio to Menuet I, part of the same keyboard arrangement of the solo violin Partita No. 3 in E major, BWV 1006. It has a more introspective, subdued character than its companion. Playing it with an awareness of the contrast to Menuet I brings out the structural balance of the pair.

The minuet, an elegant triple-time dance popular in the Baroque era, evoking the refined atmosphere of a courtly ball.
