This movement from BWV 1006a is a gavotte in rondeau form, where the main theme returns repeatedly between contrasting episodes. Bright and immediately appealing, it is one of the best-known movements from the original solo violin partita, and its clear melodic line comes through vividly in this keyboard arrangement as well.
