Description
Composed in 1823, this collection gathers twelve German Dances, a leisurely triple-time dance form and a forerunner of the waltz, by Schubert. Each short movement carries an intimate, songful melody characteristic of the genre. Running about ten and a half minutes with over 5,700 notes in total, advanced players must carefully differentiate the character of each individual dance while maintaining overall coherence across the full set.

Franz Schubert (1797-1828)
Franz Schubert was a Vienna-born composer who died at only 31 but left behind a vast body of work, especially in the field of Lieder. Known for his gift for melody and subtle modulation, songs such as "Erlkonig" remain widely performed today. His piano works, including the Impromptus, are equally rich in lyricism.
