Invention No.11 in G minor is an expressive piece where ornamental figures intertwine with long, singing phrases. It has more melodic contour than many of the other inventions, calling for musical shaping beyond mere finger training. Its advanced difficulty reflects the need to keep the intricate note patterns lyrical rather than mechanical.
