English Suite No.2: Bourrée II BWV 807

Johann Sebastian Bach

DifficultyIntermediate
Duration0:31
Notes297

Description

Paired with Bourrée I as a trio, this short movement compresses a memorable melody into a brief span. Its reduced note density compared to the preceding bourrée creates a calm contrast, a technique common in French-style dance suites. Intermediate in level and modest in scale, it makes its mark through careful, singing phrasing of a simple melodic line.

Six suites by Bach known as the "English Suites," combining French elegance with technical brilliance.
