Description
This Menuet with Trio, from Handel's Aylesford Pieces, follows the typical Baroque dance form, pairing a main section with a contrasting trio. Lasting under a minute, it features a graceful melodic line and gives intermediate players useful practice in distinguishing the character of the main section from that of the trio.
The minuet, an elegant triple-time dance popular in the Baroque era, evoking the refined atmosphere of a courtly ball.
