Description
Composed across the 1830s, this is one of Schumann's most tightly constructed piano sonatas. Its finale was originally so fast and difficult that Schumann revised it at his publisher's urging, and the movement remains a blistering Presto passionato. Passion and tension run through the entire work, requiring the dramatic range typical of high Romantic piano writing.
