Description
Composed around 1831, this set unusually contains five mazurkas rather than the more typical three or four. The first piece in particular remains one of Chopin's more frequently performed mazurkas. Written soon after he settled in Paris, the set already displays the melodic charm that would define his mature style, with plenty of memorable moments throughout and each of the five pieces offering a distinct character.

Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849)
Frederic Chopin was born in Poland and made his career in Paris, remaining unusual among great composers for writing almost exclusively for piano. He poured his longing for his homeland into mazurkas and polonaises, while his ballades and etudes combine poetic melody with harmonic innovation.
