Description
A lullaby found within Albumblätter, a collection of freely conceived character pieces. A gentle, undulating melody rests above a softly repeating accompaniment figure, gradually lulling the listener toward sleep. At nearly four minutes and over 1,200 notes, it demands sustained concentration in patiently spinning out a simple musical idea.
A set of 20 short pieces Schumann composed at various points in his life, gathering contrasting moods into a single varied collection.
