Description
This Scherzino belongs to the same Op. 11 set as the Impromptu and Novellette. Its brisk tempo and witty figuration compress the vivid orchestral color familiar from Rimsky-Korsakov's larger works into a compact frame. Though barely two minutes long, it calls for nimble, evenly paced fingerwork.
Works in scherzo form, known for its playful character, including Chopin's four scherzos that blend wit with dramatic power.
