Description
An unfinished sonata fragment thought to have been written by Mozart in his mid-teens. It has no number in the sixth edition of the Köchel catalogue (K6 deest), and its bright C major sound offers a glimpse of the young Mozart trying things out.
In C major and 3/4, it is full of basic figures such as scales and arpeggios, moving over clear Classical harmony. As a fragment it is not complete as a piece, but the chance to see a young composer's hand at close range is what makes it distinctive.
It is rated beginner, a short, documentary piece of under forty seconds and 382 notes. It is an approachable way in to Classical figuration for beginners, and also useful as an exercise for learning how to move the fingers. The range is G2 to D6, fitting on a 61-key keyboard. Slow the playback to check the finger flow through the scales and arpeggios, and repeat a single figure with the A-B loop to even out the notes.

In a life of only 35 years, he produced masterpieces across symphonies, operas, chamber music, and keyboard works. His style combines clarity and formal balance with rich emotional depth.
