Description
Published in 1909, this ragtime by Scott Joplin carries a title evoking the bustle of the stock exchange, its themes suggesting both hurried activity and humor. Reflecting Joplin's later style, it shows more adventurous harmony. Bringing out the contrasting character of each section is the main challenge for the performer.
Ragtime pieces centered on Scott Joplin's syncopated rhythms — a lively American genre that helped pave the way for jazz.
