Description
Composed in 1912, this set of 'flabby' preludes 'for a dog' is a companion to Satie's contemporaneous '3 Veritables preludes flasques.' Its deliberately loose harmonies and unhurried tempo musically embody the whimsical 'flasques' (flabby) imagery of the title. At around three minutes with just over 1,000 notes, it requires careful control of its ambiguous sonorities.

Erik Satie (1866-1925)
Erik Satie was a French composer from Honfleur who worked in Montmartre's cabarets while pursuing a highly individual musical aesthetic. Known for spare, understated music and whimsically titled works, he later influenced minimalist and ambient music.
