As its title, meaning 'tapestry,' suggests, the piece carefully weaves together simple figures to create a quiet, textured surface with a modest number of notes. Erik Satie was a French composer from Honfleur who worked in Montmartre's cabarets while pursuing a highly individual musical aesthetic.
