Description
This piece is Chopin's piano paraphrase of the famous aria Casta Diva from Bellini's opera Norma, a composer he deeply admired. The main challenge is translating the aria's long-breathed, bel canto vocal line into idiomatic piano writing while preserving its solemn, prayer-like character. At under three minutes, it is approachable for intermediate players while still demanding an operatic sense of phrasing.
